Arsenal full-back Kieran Tierney has cemented his place in the first XI but according to El Español, Spanish giants Real Madrid will try and sign him in the summer.

The Gunners toiled hard to sign the Scottish international from Celtic FC and after struggling in his first season in the Premier League, the left-back has finally been getting consistent game time to date.

Tierney has played in 16 Premier League games this season, scoring one and assisting three goals so far.

Real Madrid are said to be keeping tabs on the 24-year-old and as per the report, Florentino Perez will try and sign him once the current season comes to an end.

Does Real Madrid need the left-back?

Marcelo’s contract comes to an end in the summer so once the experienced player leaves Ferland Mendy will be the only left-back left in the squad.

While David Alaba can play in that role but he’s a natural centre-back so it’s not a major surprise that Real Madrid have plans to make a move for Kieran Tierney.

Carlo Ancelotti has managed to revive a lot of players’ careers this season and if he is the one eyeing the Arsenal defender then Perez will undoubtedly pull out the funds for him.

Will Arsenal agree to cash in on Kieran Tierney?

The Gunners had fought and negotiated hard with Celtic to sign Tierney so there’s no way they will agree to let him so easily.

His current deal expires in 2026 meaning Arsenal are in no hurry to cash in on him either.

Also, Mikel Arteta sold a lot of players during the January transfer window without bringing anyone in and this means he will have to make a handful of signings to be able to rebuild his squad for the upcoming season. And in such a scenario, Arsenal just cannot afford to sell a regular starter and then go out finding a replacement for him for no reason.

The report though suggests that Ancelotti is looking to sign Kieran Tierney as the backup to Ferland Mendy and there’s no way the Scott is going to leave a guaranteed spot at Arsenal to agree to become a benchwarmer at Real Madrid.
