Kyle Lafferty
Kyle Lafferty to Rangers

Rangers FC have been in talks with Hearts over the transfer of Kyle Lafferty for some time now and finally, the Gers fans had received some positive news on Wednesday.

Hearts had rejected an initial bid of £200,000 holding out for a fee of £750,000 and on Wednesday multiple reports had claimed that Steven Gerrard had finally sanctioned the deal and Lafferty was set to become a Ranger within the next 48 hours.

But now it seems that the seemingly smooth transfer has hit yet another roadblock.

Hearts manager Craig Levein has claimed that his clubs are still in talks with Rangers and the transfer of Kyle Lafferty is nowhere close to completion.

Levein said“We’re still speaking to Rangers about the situation,

“I don’t want to go into any details,

“He seems happy enough. I’ve not had any problems with him. He certainly looked to be smiling on Saturday anyway, that’s for sure. We’re in discussions all the time. Obviously, the situation is not of our making and we’ll see what happens.

“There’s no point in me going over any details. Things are ongoing. It’s not inevitable.”

So clearly it seems that there’s still a fairly long way to go before Kyle Lafferty returns back to his former club which is not a very good sign for Steven Gerrard given the fact that his first choice striker Alfredo Morelos is also being eyed by other clubs.

According to the latest reports, French club Bordeaux have had an initial bid rejected for Morelos and they are expected to return back with an improved offer(not confirmed).

Bordeaux’s first bid was in the region of £3.75 million and if they do come with a refreshed offer then the Light Blues could find it really hard to turn down that sort of money.

So Rangers should work hard and bring Kyle Lafferty to the club as soon as possible just to ensure they have a new striker on board before Bordeaux up their interest in Alfredo Morelos.
