West Ham United have signed ten players during the summer transfer window and a number of them made their debut for the club during the 4-0 loss to Liverpool last weekend.

The likes of Jack Wilshere and Felipe Anderson all played their first league game for the Hammers but almost all of them failed to impress during their heavy defeat at the hands of Jurgen Klopp’s men.

But away from all the limelight, there was one other player who made his debut for the London outfit and ensured that the manager stood up and took notice of him.

Apart from all the big names, West Ham had also signed 21-year-old Xande Silva from Portuguese side Vitoria during the summer and the striker made his debut in the Premier League 2 this week.

Silva played his first match for the U-23 side against their Tottenham Hotspur counterparts and he ended the game with a hattrick.

Xande Silva has signed a three-year contract at the club and he is not expected to make his bow for the first team any time soon but his impressive outing against the Lilywhites have gotten the fans raving about him.

The Hammers faithful have urged their manager to promote the youngster to the first team setup claiming that the club could lose yet another talent if they linger too much.

While the enthusiasm from the fans is understandable but in reality, Manuel Pellegrini has a number of forwards at his disposal right now. With the likes of Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez ahead of him, Xande Silva will have to keep churning out high-class performances repeatedly if he wishes to get anywhere close to the first eleven.

The only chance that Xande Silva has of moving into the first team is if West Ham manage to sell off Andy Carroll during the January transfer window after reports have confirmed that the centre-forward will be back to full fitness by November.
