Kyle Lafferty
Kyle Lafferty to Rangers

Rangers FC are currently seventh on the Premiership table with five points and Steven Gerrard knows fully well that the game vs Dundee next weekend will be a make or break fixture.

The Light have won only a single game in the league so far and if they fail to win the game against Dundee then surely they will have an uphill task of catching up with the likes of Celtic and Hearts who are sitting at the top of the table.

But now it seems that Steven Gerrard might have a selection headache before the Dundee game.

Kyle Lafferty picked up an ankle injury during Northern Ireland’s game against Bosnia recently after which he remained an unused substitute during the 3-0 win against Isreal.

Now reports have emerged that Kyle Lafferty’s ankle injury is serious as a result of which he did not feature in the starting eleven on Tuesday.

While these reports have no concrete value but the fact that it has been covered by a number of publications in the United Kingdom makes it noteworthy.

If Kyle Lafferty is indeed ruled out for this weekend’s clash then Steven Gerrard will be left with Alfredo Morelos as his only top rated frontman.

Not only will the manager have limited options up front but he might also have to change his formation if Kyle Lafferty cannot recover from the ankle injury.

Rangers were playing in the 3-5-2 formation during the past couple of games in order to accommodate both Lafferty and Morelos in the attacking third but with the former Hearts man out of the picture, Gerrard might be forced to go back to his old formation.
