Rangers vs Leipzig
Ibrox Stadium Rangers

Rangers FC have travelled to Slovenia in order to take on Maribor in the second leg of the third qualifying round of the Europa League.

The Gers won the first leg at Ibrox 3-1 and taking a two-goal advantage to Slovenia means that Steven Gerrard’s side have more or less wrapped up the tie.

And speaking before the match, the manager has suggested that he might make a couple of changes to his starting line-up on Thursday.

The Light Blues boss had revealed that a number of his midfielder have been deemed fit to take part in the Maribor clash but has also hinted to the fact that summer signing Lassana Coulibaly might not make it to the first eleven.

Coulibaly joined the Ibrox outfit from France this summer and the midfielder has really impressed everyone with his authoritative play at the heart of the pitch.

But the player limped off the pitch during Rangers’ win against St Mirren this past Sunday which cast a few doubts over his participation against Maribor.

The manager though has gone on record to say that Lassana Coulibaly is fit for selection but will likely be rested on Thursday.

Gerrard said: “Lassana has recovered quite well and we don’t think it is a big issue, it is maybe more down to fatigue.

“He has posted some very big numbers in the last couple of games, in terms of distances and high speed, so I think it is just is body letting him know that he might need a little bit of a break at some point.

“It is a big game Thursday and we will have to wait and see what he is like in the next 48 hours before we make a decision on him.”

If Lassana Coulibaly is rested on Thursday then Halliday will slot into his position in midfield alongside Arfield and Ryan Jack – both of whom have recovered from their respective injuries.
