Arsenal captain Laurent Koscielny has been sticking out like a sore thumb and if recent rumours are to be believed then the Gunners are desperately trying to offload him this summer.
It all started when the defender refused to join the club on their pre-season tour following which the club put out a statement making it clear that they were not happy with his actions.
“Laurent Koscielny has refused to travel to the US for our pre-season tour,” a statement on the club’s official website read.
“We are very disappointed by Laurent’s actions, which are against our clear instructions.
“We hope to resolve this matter and will not be providing any further comment at this time.”
And since then there have been constant rumours linking him with a return back to the Ligue 1 this summer.
But now speaking about the player’s future, Unai Emery has hinted that the club might not be against the idea of keeping Laurent Koscielny at the club for one more season.
“He’s a very important player for us. We are speaking with him and with the team, about my responsibilities, the club’s responsibility and his responsibility,” the Arsenal boss said.
“With respect, it’s better for us, it’s better for the team, and it’s changing our idea with the centre-back because if he is here with us this season, it’s very different than if he isn’t with us.
“At the moment it’s a very personal decision, and we are respecting that.
“I am speaking with him and we are going to find the best solution, but overall we need a player like him. We want to be strong in our defensive line, working with the players we have now.”
