Rangers FC left-back Lee Wallace has been on the sidelines ever since his bust-up with the former manager last season.

But in spite of selling him off the club, Steven Gerrard asked the player to sort out the differences with the board following which he would be welcomed back to the club.

And after months of missing first-team action, Lee Wallace was finally making a comeback with regular outings with the reserve side.

Now though, the manager has stated that Lee Wallace has suffered a grade 1 groin strain which will keep him out of action for some time.

Gerrard said: “Lee Wallace has picked an injury up in training but he wasn’t in the Livingston squad. He’s got a grade one groin strain so he’ll be a couple of weeks which is disappointing because he was looking better and better each day so that’ll set him back a short while.”

And this injury means that Lee Wallace’s long career with Rangers might well and truly be over.

Recently Wallace won an appeal with the SPFL against the Light Blues board which prompted the club to publicly criticize the decision.

Following this statement from the club, everyone knew that the left-back would be sold off in January and fans were hoping that Lee Wallace does get some game time before he leaves the club.

Now though it seems impossible given his groin strain which might keep him out of action until the end of next month – if some reports are to be believed.
