Italian defender Leonardo Bonucci has finally revealed why he chose to snub interest from both Manchester United and Manchester City.

Bonucci chose to leave Juventus after seven years of association and join Serie A rivals AC Milan during the 2017-18.

But that move turned out to be a total disaster and the centre-back moved back to Juve during the summer.

And now talking in an interview, Leonardo Bonucci has admitted that both the Manchester clubs were interested in signing during the past couple of seasons.

Bonucci said: “Basically, there have been some possibilities both with Manchester City and with Manchester United.

“With Manchester City when I received that offer [in 2016] I actually talked to the club, I talked to Juventus and we decided that it was good for me to stay and to keep on winning with Juventus.

“And this year when I was told there was a possibility to go back home, to come back to Juventus I just stopped listening to any other offers and I decided to come back here.”

Leonardo Bonucci has also confirmed Manchester United’s interest in him during the summer transfer window but he chose to snub Jose Mourinho because he wanted to get back home – to Juventus.

While the 31-year-old refusing to join Man City has not hurt Pep Guardiola very much but his refusal to sign for United has seriously caused problems for Jose Mourinho.

The Man United boss desperately wanted to sign a centre-back during the summer but his management failed to bring in even a single one. And the repercussions are there for everyone to see.
