List of football stars who have come out to help amidst this crisis situation

The world of football easily has some of the best-paid jobs across the globe and many times, clubs and authorities have been slammed for paying such astronomical wages to their managers and players.

Football is somewhere that even young men who are in their teens earn hundreds and thousands of pounds each and every week and if they can manage to hit the heights then salaries in the million are a very normal sight.

But right now when the whole world is battling the coronavirus pandemic, the footballers and people associated with the game are some of the first ones to come out and provide a helping hand.

Here’s a list of all the football players, managers as well as the footballing clubs who have donated towards the fight of the coronavirus pandemic.

1.Pep Guardiola has donated £920,000 [€1million] to help provide medical equipment in the fight against coronavirus in Spain.

2. Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha has offered to open up 50 properties in London to the NHS staff.

3. Liverpool and Scotland star Andy Robertson has made a huge donation to several food banks in Glasgow.

4. The whole of the Liverpool squad will be making a donation to the North Liverpool Foodbank.

5. Manchester United forward Rashford has partnered with FareShare in order to ensure that students do not go hungry since schools have been closed due to the lockdown.

6. Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld has donated tablets to various hospitals so that patients can stay in touch with their friends and families.

“I hope everyone is following the government measures to stop the spread of the coronavirus,” the defender said. “The virus creates many needs, especially the lack of personal contact.

“The people who are sick can’t see their friends and family. My plan is to buy dozens of tablets to give to the hospitals and nursing homes so people can video chat with their loved ones and friends to get through this tough period.

“I’m trying to get those tablets to the places where they can help.”

7. Paul Pogba has set up a fundraising page on his 27th birthday to raise money to help the fight against coronavirus.

8. Jose Mourinho was seen delivering food and other essential items to people during the lockdown.

9. Liverpool winger has donated 30 million CFA francs (USD 50,000) to his Senegal’s National Medical Commission in order to help fight the pandemic.

10. Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo has also donated around $1.1 million in order to help the cause. Ronaldo along with his agent Jorgen Mendes have also donated lifesaving equipment to Portuguese hospitals.

11. Lionel Messi has donated a similar amount to Barcelona’s Hospital Clinic, the Twitter account of the hospital have confirmed.

12. The Germany national team footballers will be donating $2.7 million towards the cause.

“There was very quick agreement on the fact that we wanted to make a gesture as a team,” said national team director Oliver Bierhoff at a German Football Association, as reported.

13. Barcelona have delivered 30,000 masks to the government of  Catalonia to help fight the coronavirus pandemic.

14. Bundesliga sides like Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Cologne and Schalke have agreed to take pay-cuts during such a time of crisis.

15. Marco Reus and his wife Scarlett have donated €500,000 to help the people and smaller businesses of Dortmund.

16. Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan has set up a grocery shopping service in the German city of Heinsberg.
