Jordan Pickford England and Everton

Liverpool have beaten Everton in the Merseyside Derby on Sunday but God did they leave it late.

The match was pretty evenly balanced and everyone thought that it was going to end in a stalemate.

And that is when Divock Origi who was playing his first Premier League game of the season scored a 96th-minute winner. Yes, a 96th-minute winner.

Well, it was more of being gifted a goal rather than to work hard for it.

And the culprit on the other end was Everton keeper Jordan Pickford who tried to be too clever with a miscued Van Dijk shot and instead of just seeing it over the bar chose to push it back into the air and grab it.

But all he managed to do was put it on a plate for Origi who scored his first goal for Liverpool since ages.

Liverpool fans have been busy trolling the England No 1 and they have every right too, more after what Jordan Pickford had said.

In an interview a couple of months ago, Pickford had claimed he will not try anything stupid and will not make any mistake like Alisson Becker.

‘It’s a risk – if it comes off it looks good,’ said Pickford. ‘But if it doesn’t… It’s a style of play and I think that’s the way Liverpool want to play as well,’ Jordan Pickford had said.

‘Mistakes will happen and it’s about not making the next one. I’m going to try not to put myself in that position to make those mistakes.

‘It’s the timing of the game, really. You don’t want to get too comfortable if you’re winning and start trying to be a No 10.

‘If it’s on to do I’ll do it and if it’s not we’ll manage the game. That’s where I learn more. The more games you play the more game management you learn.’

The Liverpool fans have dug up this interview and are now using it to troll Jodan Pickford.

While we strongly believe one mistake does not make you a bad goalkeeper but Jordan Pickford is England’s No 1 for heaven’s sake.

The win means Liverpool maintain their unbeaten run in the Premier League and are now two points behind league leaders Manchester City.

But maybe the Reds should think about sending Jordan Pickford a Christmas present.
