Liverpool travel to St Mary’s on Friday to take on Southampton in the Premier League and this should be an easy win for the Reds.

Liverpool are fresh out of a superb victory over Tottenham last weekend and given that they play in the Champions League next week, the manager is expected to make a couple of changes to his first XI.

And the first big change should be the introduction of Xherdan Shaqiri.

Xherdan Shaqiri has fallen down the pecking order during the past couple of months but he is expected to start on Friday.

But that could have been a serious issue given the player was still recovering from an injury.

Some reports claimed the Swiss might not be fit in time for away game but on Tuesday the forward reported back for training at Melwood.

Shaqiri was involved in a full training session which means he should be available for selection vs the Saints.

Another injury concern was centre-back Virgil Van Dijk who injured himself during the dying minutes of Liverpool’s win over Spurs last weekend.

Initially, there were a number of reports regarding the Dutchman’s fitness but like Shaqiri, Van Dijk too returned back for training on Tuesday.

This means that Van Dijk should start in central defence alongside Joel Matip when the Reds take on his former club and Xherdan Shaqiri is expected to replace Mo Salah.

Liverpool take on Porto in the Champions League next week and Jurgen Klopp is expected to make a few changes to his first XI and players like Salah and Jordan Henderson could be rested on Friday in order to keep them fresh.
