4-3-3 Liverpool’s predicted line up vs Ajax: Will Klopp make any radical changes?

Liverpool have not had the best of starts to their 2022/23 season and to make matters worse, they lost their first UCL match of the campaign 4-1.

Yes, they played their first group game last week and Napoli absolutely humbled the Premier League giants. Liverpool have been pitted in a pretty tough group and after losing the first game so badly, they have a lot of work to do.

Their league game for the weekend was postponed so Jurgen Klopp has gotten a chance to regroup and rethink his strategy before his players take the field against Ajax on Tuesday night.

Ajax also started their European campaign with a 4-0 win over Rangers and with the kind of form that Liverpool are in right now, the Dutch side will be eyeing nothing but all three points.

Jurgen Klopp is pretty relaxed about his job but there’s no denying that the manager is under huge pressure to pull this side back up and get them going. Liverpool have to win against Ajax at any cost because another stumble will surely set the alarm bells ringing.

Liverpool team news and injuries:

Some Liverpool players returned from injuries last week but Jurgen Klopp still has a whole bunch of players missing right now.

Joe Gomez was absolutely pathetic in defence against Napoli and since Ibrahima Konate is sidelined with an injury, Klopp has to put his faith in Joel Matip.

Jordan Henderson is out with a thigh injury while Naby Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain are not part of the Champions League squad. This means the Liverpool boss has very limited options in midfield for the Ajax game and each one of them will have to be at their absolute best.

Arthur Melo played 13 odd minutes towards the end of the Napoli game but could come into the side, replacing Harvey Elliot. Thankfully, Thiago has made a comeback from injury and this is a huge boost for the manager.

Young Fabio Carvalho will be touch and go for the Ajax tie but even if he is available, we think he will start on the bench.

Darwin Nunez is yet to show up in Liverpool colours and with each average outing, the pressure is mounting on the summer signing. His price tag would suggest that Klopp will give him another chance but it won’t be a surprise if Nunez is dropped to the bench and Firmino takes up his place.

Liverpool predicted line up vs Ajax:

Predicted Starting Line up(4-3-3): Alisson; Matip, Robertson, Van Dijk, TAA; Thiago, Fabinho, Arthur/Elliot; Salah, Luis Diaz, Firmino.
