Liverpool are currently leading the race to win the Premier League title.
Defending champions Manchester City currently sit four points behind Jurgen Klopp’s men and many believe that the Reds will be able to hold onto their position until the end of the season.
Spurs are theoretically also in the race but with a number of high profile injuries, Mauricio Pochettino’s men could very well crash out of the title race by the next couple of games.
While the Liverpool fans are pinning their hopes on the club picking up their first time in close to three decades, some are also sceptical of the fact that such a long trophy drought could seriously impact the players’ mindset.
But according to Liverpool legend Ian Rush, the Reds will not be fazed by the overwhelming pressure.
Here’s why:
“How do you get the experience if you haven’t won the title since 1990?” the 57-year-old former striker, said.
“It’s that long ago I actually played the last time Liverpool won the league, which shows how long it’s been.
“A lot comes from how the manager and coaches keep the players’ feet on the ground.
“I think supporters are quite right to be excited as they are in a position they haven’t been for a long time but players have to take each game as it comes.
“Beating Brighton was fantastic as it wasn’t a great game, against Crystal Palace they came back from being behind so I think everything is in a good position for Liverpool.”
Manchester City are still the pundits’ favourites to win the Premier League simply because the whole of the second half of the season is still left and many feel that with the Champions League returning, Liverpool are bound to lose points.
