Jose Mourinho Tottenham take on Chelsea

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho will have one major task when he sits down to name his first XI for the Liverpool vs Man United game on Sunday.

United will be looking to inflict Liverpool’s first defeat in the Premier League this season but with nine possible injury absentees, picking up three points against such an attacking Liverpool side will be no joke.

Liverpool vs Man United: United team news

Manchester United have a number of injury concerns but the biggest one will most certainly be that of Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial.

Both these players have been in exceptional form this season but they remain a doubt for the Liverpool vs Man United clash.

Martial has been recovering from a hamstring strain which Luke Shaw is out with a knock. Some reports claim that the players might not be 100 % for the game but with the number of injuries going up, Mourinho will have no other option but to play them if they become available.

The midfield area is more or less sorted for the manager but the big question that everyone is asking is whether Paul Pogba will start the Liverpool vs Man United game.

Pogba started the game against Valencia in midweek but it was another poor outing for the Frenchman so we will have to see if Jose Mourinho decides to take the gamble of playing him in central midfield.

Diogo Dalot is another player who is out with a knock though he should recover in time for the game. But we do not feel, Jose Mourinho will risk playing him against the likes of Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino meaning Ashley Young is slated to start at right-back.

In case Anthony Martial is fit we do not think Jose Mourinho will go with an overtly attacking formation and will instead think of strengthening his midfield.

This means Romelu Lukaku will drop down to the bench and both Rashford and Martial will play up front.
