Arsenal sacked Unai Emery earlier this week and at the same time, they put Freddie Ljungberg as their interim head coach until they bring in a new manager.

And all eyes will be on the interim boss to see how he will line up his first XI when the Gunners take on Norwich on Sunday at Carrow Road.

But speaking to Sky Sports, Freddie Ljungberg has revealed that the first thing he did was to ger the mood back to normal.

As per the new caretaker coach, the Arsenal players were in the best mood after the sacking of Unai Emery which is why he had to bring back a bit of excitement.

“There was a bit of a strange [atmosphere]… the players have had a coach for a long time, a good coach, and other coaching staff who have disappeared,” the new coach told Sky Sports.

“It is a very cut-throat thing in football and players are of course emotional too, but what I tried to do was be as respectful as I could, and then when I trained the players – I was a player – I tried to do some exercises that brought a bit of excitement to make them not think too much and enjoy themselves and hopefully get them in a good mood.

“I have had experience of players and staff being really down and there are things in my opinion that you can do [to lift them], but at the end of the day if you play good football and get good results, there is nothing better to raise spirits.”

Ljungberg will surely have a lot of pressure on his in order to bring home all the three points from Carrow Road on Sunday but in order to do that, the manager will have to ensure that his defence holds strong vs Norwich City.

The likes of Sokratis and David Luiz have been really poor so far this season and if the new interim coach can manage to bring out stellar performances from these players then surely Arsenal will be cruising towards an easy win.
