Marlon to West Ham

Earlier this week, West Ham United announced the appointment of their new director of football Mario Husillos and it seems that the Argentine is on the verge of making his first signing.

Husillos was brought in to team up with new manager Manuel Pellegrini in order to ensure that West Ham do not get entangled in a relegation battle next season.

And if reports are to be believed then the Hammers look all set to sign Barcelona defender Marlon.

The 22-year-old spent the whole of last season out on loan to Ligue 1 side Nice and he was scheduled to return there for yet another loan spell.

But now Nice have released an official statement stating that the deal for Marlon is off and he will be returning back to Spain.

The statement read: “In agreement with Barcelona, the Brazilian who was loaned to Nice last summer will not wear the Nice colours in 2018-19. He now returns to the Catalan club,”

Everyone knows that Marlon cannot find a place in Barcelona’s first team squad which can only mean that the Catalans have found a buyer for the Brazilian.

And this is where West Ham United come in.

Multiple reports in England claim that the London Stadium is set to be the next destination for Marlon.

The reports suggest that West Ham United should wrap up the move in the coming weeks and the transfer price is expected to be in the region of £14million.

Marlon played 23 matches for OGC Nice during the 2017-18 season and has also represented Brazil internationally in the U-20 levels.
