Mo Salah suffered a shoulder injury during the Champions League final against Real Madrid a couple of weeks ago and since then the Egyptian has been fighting hard to make himself fit for the World Cup.
Salah suffered the injury after a harsh tackle from Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos and the Liverpool forward was immediately taken off the pitch.
At first, it was being reported that the injury could take 12 to 16 weeks to completely heal meaning the Egyptian could be unable to take part in the World Cup.
But all the Pharaohs fans breathed a sigh of relief when Mo Salah was named in the 23-man squad and he travelled with the team to Russia.
After this, reports started emerging that while Salah will be able to take part in the World Cup but his recovery might see him miss out on Egypt’s opener against Uruguay on Friday.
Now the final verdict on whether Mo Salah will feature against Uruguay has come out and it’s time for the fans to rejoice.
Egypt manager Hector Cuper has claimed during a press conference that Mo Salah’s inclusion in the matchday squad on Friday is a near-certainty.
Cuper said: ‘I can almost 100 per cent say he will play, save for any unforeseen factors at the last minute,
‘We’re trying to make him feel confident. The doctors are giving him the options to play or not.
‘I know Salah very well, he’s not fearful, we always know we’re running a risk when playing a match, that’s something we can’t hide.
‘But if he does decide to play he’ll have full guarantees on his physical condition and I’m sure he will be fine.
‘And if it does turn out there’s an issue at the last minute we’ll consider it and see if it can be resolved.’
Egypt take on Uruguay in their first Group A game on Friday after which they move onto their second match against Russia and then their final group encounter against Saudi Arabia.
