Arsenal brought in Lucas Torreira in the summer of 2018 but the player has failed to find a regular spot in the Gunners starting XI over the past two seasons. And now as per reports, the 24-year-old looks all set to move back to Italy.
There have been various rumours linking Torreira with an exit and now the player has himself stated that he is willing to move out in order to play more regular football
“Last season, I played with continuity,” Torreira told Radio Sport890, via talkSPORT.
“This one, less so. This year was more difficult. I lost rhythm and confidence. I don’t like it. At my age, I need to play to be called up to the national team. Transfer rumours? There’s nothing at the moment.
“I need to rest because it has been a very long season, I got injured and then there was the Coronavirus.
“I have a contract with Arsenal, but if I were to change in the future, it would be a decision taken for my own good. Any player looks for a team in which he feels important. We’ll see what happens in the future”.
Should Arteta let Lucas Torreira leave?
According to Sam Dean of the Telegraph, Serie A sides AC Milan and Fiorentina have shown interest in signing the South American.
AC Milan are interested in Lucas Torreira, who could be allowed to leave as #AFC look to rebuild their midfield. Reports in Italy say that Fiorentina are also keen, but my understanding is that Milan is the most likely destination. More @TeleFootball soon.

With Granit Xhaka securing a regular place in the starting line-up under Mikel Arteta, there’s every chance Mikel Arteta might let Lucas Torreira leave this summer.
But some experts think the Arsenal manager will not risk selling both Guendouzi and Torreira in the same transfer window.
Matteo Guendouzi has fallen down the pecking order at Arsenal and will most certainly be sold off. And if the manager cannot bring in apt replacements in time then we doubt if he will let Lucas Torreira leave.
