Lucas Torreira joined Arsenal from Sampdoria last summer for a transfer fee of around €30 million and the midfielder was set to become the next big thing at the club.

During the 2018-19 season, the 23-year-old did manage to play in 34 Premier League games but he ended the campaign with rather poor numbers(2 goals and 2 assists).

But given that this was his first season at the club, fans have chosen to be patient with him and are certain that the midfielder will show his true talent next campaign.

That though might eventually not happen as it is highly likely that Lucas Torriera might be on his way to AC Milan.

Milan is set to be managed by Marco Giampaolo – the same man under whom, Lucas Torreira excelled at Sampdoria. And rumours have it that the midfielder too is keen to play under his former boss as he eyes a move back to Italy.

Up until now, there were all tabloid gossip but now the player’s agent Pablo Betancourt has said that interest from Milan can surely tempt Lucas Torriera.

“I know nothing about the Rossoneri’s interest, no one contacted me,” he said(as reported by Goal).

“I have learned of this possibility through the press. Could a call from Giampaolo be something special for Lucas? Yes, clearly.”

And this statement comes just days after Lucas Torriera had told Uruguayan outlet Ovacion(as reported) that he is not too happy with life in England.

“I don’t know if there are many things that I enjoy,” Torriera said.

“I think it was better in Italy. England is a totally different world, a very large country.

“The language [barrier] has stopped me, to be able to relate with my teammates and with the people. It is very difficult when you can’t have dialogue.

“And so is the climate. You go out in the morning and it is cloudy, you arrive late to your home and it is cloudy.

“It is strange a little bit, the sun, the more of us that we are here and we are accustomed to having always or almost always the sun. But as the years pass, I’m going to be adapting.”

Arsenal though will not try and forcefully keep Lucas Torreira at the club and they are willing to use him in a swap deal to sign central midfielder Franck Kessie who is set to leave AC Milan in the coming few weeks.
