Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has been linked with a move out of the club this summer with teams like AC Milan & Boca Juniors interested in bringing him on board.

The Uruguayan has been really underwhelming so far this season, scoring just one goal and providing one assist in 24 Premier League matches for the North London side. And the reports claim Arteta does not believe Lucas Torreira has a future in his new-look starting XI for the 2020/21 season.

But now while talking about his future and the potential links to Boca Juniors, the 24-year-old has claimed that his full focus is on playing for the Gunners.

“Today my intention and my head are at Arsenal,” he told El Intransigente, as reported by One Football. “I want to recover, go back to 100 per cent.

“I have a very long contract with the club – until 2023 – and it was very difficult for me to get here.

“Wearing the shirt of Boca Juniors is a wish and a pending dream that I have.

“This is how I feel, but I say it at the age of 24 and being at one of the most important teams in the world like Arsenal.”

Will Arteta hold onto Lucas Torreira?

This is great news for some Arsenal fans who want Lucas Torreira to stay at the club. But we do not think, the midfielder will remain at the Emirates next season, especially if the Gunners can sign someone like Thomas Partey.

Torreira’s agent Pablo Bentancur had recently hinted that the 24-year-old could look to secure an exit and we feel Arsenal might also want the same thing.

“Lucas had been in a bit of a bad mood over some technical differences, then he recovered,” Bentancur told TMW, as reported by Football London.

“And the injury arrived, fortunately, less serious than expected. Today he is completely recovered, I believe he will be a market man.

“I will have to speak to Arsenal. The player would love to return to Italy, but it must be acknowledged that Arsenal treated him very well and behaved great.”

Mikel Arteta already has central midfielders like Granit Xhaka and Matteo Guendouzi so if Thomas Partey was to arrive then Lucas Torriera will be most definitely be surplus to requirements next season.

And the management would then want to sell him off and recover as much money as possible, in order to fund the club’s other transfer targets for the summer.
