Manchester City have just signed Danilo from Real Madrid on a five-year deal contract. City have paid somewhere in the region of £26.5 million for the right-back.

With this move, the Brazilian becomes the fourth big signing of the club. Guardiola has already signed Bernardo Silva, Ederson Moraes and Kyle Walker in the past two months.

The 26-year-old has completed his medical and is expected to join his new team mates in the USA for the club’s pre-season tour. But the Brazilian will only be able to take part in the games after he gets a valid work permit.

Where does the Brazilian fit it?

With the signing of Danilo, Guardiola has acquired the services of a very versatile defender. Danilo is primarily a right-back but can also be deployed as a left-back. The Brazilian is also capable of playing in the midfield.

But where exactly does Danilo fit into the team? Well, his most favoured position of right-back has already been taken up by Kyle Walker who became the world’s most expensive defender after signing for City. Thus it is highly unlikely that Danilo will get the nod before Walker. And as per the latest reports, City have also agreed on a deal for Benjamin Mendy who plays as a left-back. So that also rules out the left-back spot. And it is also highly unlikely that Danilo will fit into the midfield given that City already have a pool of talent in the area.

The Football Fan Base view:

So Danilo has basically been brought into the squad to act as a secondary option. City have paid £26.5 million for the services of the Brazilian. And given the fact that he can play in so many positions £26.5 million is nothing short of a bargain as per today’s crazy market.
