Manchester City went agonisingly close to signing Jorginho from Napoli but as soon as Chelsea announced Maurizio Sarri as their new coach, the midfielder moved to Stamford Bridge.
As everyone was thinking that City have missed the opportunity to sign one of the best midfielders in Europe, another golden chance seems to have come towards Pep Guardiola.
German news outlet BILD(as reported by MEN), are reporting that Bayern Munich might offload Thiago Alcantara from their ranks in the coming few weeks and City might just be interested.
It was Pep Guardiola who had brought Alcantara to Bayern Munich from Barcelona and now the manager might once again have the opportunity to work with him at the Etihad.
After failing to secure a first team spot in Barcelona, the 27-year-old arrived at Bayern with a lot of hopes but constant injuries have never allowed the midfielder’s career to take off in the Bundesliga.
And now that Bayern have a new manager in the form of Niko Kovac rumours have it that Thiago Alcantara might no longer be wanted at the Allianz Arena.
According to BILD, Pep Guardiola favourite Thiago Alcántara has been made available for sale by Bayern Munich (along with Boateng, Vidal and Bernat).

Apart from Alcantara, Jerome Boateng, Arturo Vidal and Juan Bernat have all also been told they do not fit the new manager’s plan for the upcoming season.
Now Manchester City might have the chance to sign Alcantara.
The 27-year-old played 32 games last season for Bayern Munich – scoring seven goals and providing two assists.
But we have to wait and see if Pep Guardiola does make the signing of a midfielder his priority after missing out on Jorginho. The defending Premier League champions already have the likes of Ilkay Gundogan and Fabian Delph who can play in central midfield and do the exact same job as Thiago Alcantara.
So it will be interesting to see if the Blue Half of Manchester are willing to invest heavily in an injury prone midfielder who has shown very little promise during the past couple of seasons.
TransferMarkt values Thiago Alcantara at 60 million euros but the Bundesliga outfit will surely not let him move out for such a low transfer price especially since the midfielder’s current contract with the club ends in 2021.
