Man United head to Goodison Park to take on Everton on Saturday and according to Michael Owen, the Red Devils will falter this weekend as well.
Man United are still in the hunt for a top-four finish but for that to happen, they will need to win all their remaining games first. Everton are in really poor form right now so one would imagine that Manchester United will have it easy but it looks like Owen is betting against his former side picking up all three points.
He wrote for BetVictor: “Wednesday’s defeat to Burnley was a disaster. The pressure and mood around the club can’t be good at all right now, Frank Lampard has a massive job on his hands. I’ve said it all along, Goodison Park will determine Everton’s destiny this season. They’ll need every point they can get at home.
“It says it all that United’s draw against Leicester last week wasn’t even surprising. Their form has just been so inconsistent, and it feels like this season is just drifting away. The lack of goals in the side is a worry. With all the attacking quality they have, they shouldn’t be struggling to put it in the net.
“I think the fans will really be up for this, they know how much trouble this side is in. Goodison can be such a difficult place for away teams when the fans are like that. I’m going for a 1-1 draw.”
Man United are likely to drop points vs Everton:
Ideally, in the form that Everton are in right now, everyone will be foreseeing an easy Man United win but like Owen, we also think Rangnick’s side will stumble on Saturday.
Inconsistency and a lack of goals are also a factor but the major reason why we think Everton will be able to pick up something from this tie is that United are going to miss several key players.
Ralf Rangnick has confirmed in his press conference that Luke Shaw, McTominay and Raphael Varane will all be absent due to injuries and this could be the deciding factor that tilts the tie in Everton’s favour.
Manchester will welcome back Cristiano Ronaldo for their home tie against Everton. Varane, Shaw, Mctominay and Cavani have been ruled out due to injury. Who should partner Maguire in defence?#TheGamePlan pic.twitter.com/4Qv3KqFFlA

All these players are instrumental in Rangnick’s plans and without them, the interim boss will have to use placeholders in the starting lineup. As it is, Manchester United are struggling to find a rhythm and now with three big-name players missing, it will be even harder for them to command the game on Saturday.
There’s a chance that Man United might sneak through and pick up a win but if Everton can dig deep then stopping the visitors should not be a major ask at all.
