Man United have finally been able to move out of that ill-fated 6th spot on the Premier League table after a victory over Leicester City.

United beat Claude Puel’s men 1-0 and moved up to the fifth spot. And now that Arsenal have lost to Man City, Solskjaer men will move into the next weekend just two points behind Chelsea who are in fourth.

Marcus Rashford scored the only goal of the game in the ninth minute of the match following which the Foxes slowly crept back into the match and controlled the game from there on.

Everyone expected United to shift gears and be more attacking in the second half but the Red Devils went into a shell and ultimately the manager decided that it would be best to preserve that one-goal lead.

While Man United have managed to score a flurry of goals under the caretaker boss but they have been also leaking goals at the back.

Speaking after the game, the Norwegian did mention that his team should have performed better in the second half but the manager did not fail to pay the importance of a clean sheet.

Solskjaer saidAs I said we put our bodies on the line, there were a couple of bruised noses and knees and dead legs,

They fought for their three points today. I think we deserved it in that respect. In the second half when we could have controlled it more, we could have slowed it down.

“But we defended really well. Eric and Victor were fantastic and David again of course.

”If you have the foundation of a clean sheet you’ll always be in with a chance to win a game and we’ve got a keeper that saves us.

“We’ve got a back four that sacrifices everything in the box, a couple of midfielders who made a couple of great blocks, that was absolutely amazing to watch and the attitude has been spot on ever since I came.”

This match though showed that the likes of Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly can step up when required and stop opposition attacks. And this grit and determination could come in very handy when Man United take on PSG in the Champions League later this month.
