Gary Neville on Man City

Man United have gotten back to winning ways as they beat Cardiff City 5-1 in what was Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s, first man in charge.

But Gary Neville believes that the caretaker boss has a lot of other things to do apart from helping United win games.

In Ole’s first match in charge, Man United scored five goals for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s farewell game and many fans believe that the former Man United striker is the right man for the job.

Gary Neville though, believes the manager now has the responsibility of gathering information and passing it on to the management so that they can recruit the right players during the end of the season.

“Ole’s job in the next six months is to be head coach, head scout, head of recruitment and making sure he feeds back really good information into the recruitment department of what the club needs,” he told Sky Sports’ Gary Neville Podcast(as reported by Standard).

“My concern over the last three to four years is who has been signing the players.

“That needs cleaning up and I am certain the club in the next six months will appoint the right people who are best in class to run that side of things.

“Manchester United have to start getting it right otherwise they will struggle, but it was a good start yesterday.”

Reports have claimed that Solskjaer will only be allowed to make loan signings next month since the club want to save money for the next manager who will be coming in during the summer.

This means the caretaker boss will have to assess each and every department of his squad and then report back to Man United’s vice-chairman Ed Woodward as to which gaps to plug during the summer transfer window.
