Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea went agonisingly close to joining Real Madrid in the summer of 2015 and recent reports claimed that the Spain No 1 will finally have his move back home this summer.

But now if reports are to be believed then the shot-stopper has decided to stay back at Manchester United.

As per M.E.N, De Gea has scrapped thoughts of going back to Madrid and will now commit his long-term future at Old Trafford.

The United keeper had a tough time with Spain during the 2018 World Cup where he was unable to repeat his 2017-18 season’s heroics with the national team.

And this led to many Spanish fans heavily criticising him which many believe is the reason why the 27-year-old has chosen to stay in the Premier League.

Last months there were reports that De Gea had a verbal contract with Real Madrid but now that the shot-stopper has chosen to stay at Man United, the panic will start at Stamford Bridge.

During the past couple of days, there have been several reports that the Los Blancos are targetting Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois. And now that De Gea has rejected Real, the Bernabeu outfit are going to be fully focused on Courtois.

Courtois is yet to sign a new deal with Chelsea and it seems that the Belgium keeper is waiting for the Los Blancos to come and get him.

David De Gea is almost finished with his holidays and is expected to join the Manchester United squad in the United States next week.
