Man United suffered their first domestic defeat under Solskjaer last weekend when Man United were beaten 2-0 by Arsenal at the Emirates.
This loss has caused a fair bit of stir in the middle of the Premier League table and Man United have once again fallen down to the fifth spot.
Under the caretaker boss, Man United managed to claw down the gap between then and the other top-four sides but this loss to the Gunners have shown them that they still need to fight hard.
And now speaking before their FA Cup clash vs Wolves, Solskjaer has given on his thoughts on how the loss vs Arsenal will affect his Man United side.
“You’re always measured on results, but we played a good game against Arsenal,” said Solskjaer.
“We’ve played so much worse and won games, and that’s the strange thing when you’re a manager.
“You can look behind the result and say that was a good performance, we didn’t get what we deserved. It’s so strange, the Arsenal one.
“We were very disappointed in the result, but we can’t look at the performance and say we were s***, because we weren’t, to be honest, and blunt, we weren’t. We played well.
“We’ve done well, of course.
“We’ve given ourselves a chance to be in and amongst top four, we’re in the quarter-finals of both the FA Cup and Champions League.
“We’ve been on a good run now. it’s not ‘squeaky bum time’ like the gaffer used to say, but it tightens up.
“In April and May, at Manchester United, we narrow the focus and it’s now about winning trophies and making use of the squad.
“I didn’t have a schedule [in mind]. I had until May to do whatever I could with the team, and playing style, mood, everything, has been going well.
“But then again football kicks you in the teeth sometimes and it’s always the next day. If we get through to the semi-finals of the FA Cup, then I’ll have a nice few days back home.”
The likes of Arsenal and Chelsea mostly have easy games for the remainder of the league season but Man United will have to face the likes of Man City, Everton and Chelsea.
