Man United managed to finish in the top-four of the Premier League table by beating Leicester Cit 2-0 at the King Power Stadium on Sunday.

But what the Red Devils’ manager and the players did after the final whistle seems to have caught the eye of pundit Michael Owen.

“They’re the next team let’s say to go and challenge the Liverpools and Manchester Citys of this world,” Owen told Premier League Productions, via talkSPORT.

“You’re looking at it for a long time now and they’ve been miles clear of anyone but on form in the last 20-odd games United are right up there.

“I think another tell-tale sign was when they won [at Leicester].

“Yes, there was celebrating, yes there were handshakes and all the rest of it but there was no crazy celebrations, there was a steely determination-look from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as if: ‘This is the bare minimum. Hang on a minute, we’re Manchester United, top four is bare minimum for us’.

“So they’re not going to rest on their laurels now, they’re playing particularly well but they still need to add a little bit more before they can go and challenge for the top honours.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was being butchered at the start of the season and even a top-four finish was not looking possible. But thankfully the management and the players kept faith in their manager and now the results are there for all to see.

Man United are nowhere close to the likes of Man City or Liverpool but over the past couple of months, the Old Trafford outfit have made some pretty decent progress.

Bruno Fernandes has certainly elevated them to the next level and there’s no denying that the Portuguese is going to be the fulcrum for Solskjaer’s side next season.

The manager also needs to sweat it out in the transfer market this summer as he needs a number of more signings in order to build a side strong enough to compete on all fronts next campaign.
