Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has for the longest time been chasing Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Toby Alderweireld but as things stand the Red Devils seem to have a made U-turn.

Alderweireld joined Spurs in 2015 from Atletico Madrid and since then the Belgium International has been one of the best and most consistent performances in the Premier League.

In his first two seasons at White Hart Lane, Toby played a crucial role in the Spurs back-line but the 2017-18 season saw him spend almost 3 months on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury.

His diminished role in the Spurs first team did nothing to attract the interest of Manchester United but now all of a sudden MEN are claiming that the Old Trafford outfit are no longer pursuing the 29-year-old.

It is being claimed that the United scouts have shown concerns over signing Alderweireld and they are now looking at other possible options.

Spurs have already rejected a 55 million pound bid from Manchester United last week and the Lilywhites have no intention of selling their prized possession for less than 75 million pounds.

The Red Devils have surely come to the conclusion that spending such an absurd amount of money on a 29-year-old makes no sense and have now given up the chase.

Players like Raphael Varane, Jerome Boateng, Kalidou Koulibaly, Milan Skriniar, Alessio Romagnoli, Jose Gimenez and Caglar Soyuncu are all said to be on United’s radar.

A couple of days back MEN itself had suggested that Manchester United might be eyeing a move for Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet who will cost them around 31 million pounds and just days after this the same publication is reporting United’s disinterest in Toby Alderweireld.

United were certainly setback when Spurs revealed their final selling prize for Alderweireld and they had threatened to pull out of the deal if the Lilywhites refused to lower their asking price.

Now they have gone out and done just that.
