4-2-3-1 Man United’s predicted line up vs Bayern Munich: Will Amrabat be fit to start?

Anthony Martial Man United

The Man United team are in total chaos as they have lost two Premier League games in a row and the last one was a 3-1 humbling by Brighton at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag and his players are under heavy pressure but things are just going to get tougher as they head to Germany this week to take on Bayern Munich in their first group game of the Champions League.

This is going to be a make-or-break game for Manchester United’s season because if they can pick up a confident win vs Tuchel’s side then things could turn around for the better but if they suffer another humiliating loss then ETH will be under a lot of pressure.

The last time these two sides met was back in 2014 in the UCL and Man United could not beat Bayern in both legs. Bayern are in top form this season, as usual, but they did stumble against Leverkusen, drawing 2-2 at home.

Manchester United’s team news and injuries:

The injury list is still very long for Man United as the likes of Mason Mount, Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo are all ruled out for Wednesday’s game.

Raphael Varane is on the road to recovery but he will miss out on United’s UCL opener which means Lindelof and Martinez will pair up in central defence once again.

Mount is nearing a return but the midfielder will not be fit for the trip to the Allianz Arena. Sofyan Amrabat picked up a knock while on international duty which is why he missed the Brighton game and there’s doubt regarding his participation in midweek.

The manager had said last week: ‘Amrabat, he came back unfortunately with the injury, so he will not be available for tomorrow.’

Casemiro looked really winded and fatigued against a swift Brighton side and if Man United want to dominate the midfield against Bayern then Amrabat has to start alongside Casemiro. If Amrabat is not ready then McTominay will start as the second holding midfielder but this pair is not going to be enough to break up Bayern’s play and take control.

Antony and Jadon Sancho are out of the picture which has pushed Garnacho up the pecking order but the Argentine did not get a start at the weekend.

Garnacho can only play on the left wing which means if Ten Hag hands him a start then Rashford will have to play on the right and that’s not the ideal position for the England international. With Antony and Sancho both missing, Garnacho does deserve a start so it will be interesting to see how the Man United manager sets up his forward line against Germany.

Hojlund’s withdrawal against Brighton was met with jeers and boos from the Old Trafford fans but the manager said after the match that he was not fit to play the full 90 minutes. The striker will start against Bayern for sure but maybe he will once again get to play around 75-80 minutes.

Man United have confirmed on Monday that Aaron Wan-Bissaka is the latest addition to the injury list as the right-back has sustained a hamstring injury and he will be out of action for a couple of weeks.

Not everything is bad news for though because as per some unconfirmed reports either one of Mason Mount, Sofyan Amrabat or Raphael Varane could be fit against Bayern on Wednesday.
