Liverpool were held to a 0-0 draw by Bayern Munich on Tuesday and next up they travel to Old Trafford.

Liverpool take on Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday and before the match, Jurgen Klopp once again has some defensive worries.

The Reds were without the services of Virgil Van Dijk and Dejan Lovren which meant Joel Matip and Fabinho played in central defence against the Bavarians.

While Van Dijk was suspended for the game, Dejan Lovren failed to recover from his hamstring injury.

There were some reports that the Croatian might be fit to play vs Bayern in the Champions League but ultimately that was not to be.

And now Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Dejan Lovren will be out for some more time and is likely to miss the game vs Man United as well.

He said: “There was not a real doubt, to be honest.

“It was not mind games but Dejan had no chance for the game today actually, I don’t think he even has a chance for the next game. He will take his time.

“It was clear Fabinho and Joel have to play tonight, so we trained it – we tried everything – and now hopefully the boys are ready.”

Joe Gomez is already sidelined with a long-term injury and now with Dejan Lovren also out of contention, the manager has to make some tough calls.

Virgil Van Dijk will return to the first XI on Sunday vs Man United and Klopp now has to decide whether to rest Joel Matip or play him(which could be a real gamble since the defender has just returned from injury a couple of weeks ago).
