Jose Mourinho Tottenham take on Chelsea

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was on the verge of being sacked a couple of weeks ago – or so everyone thought.

While Mourinho maintained that the United board had backed him fully but major tabloids in Britain claimed that the Portuguese had gone agonisingly close to being sacked.

That storm though seems to have passed on atleast for the time being and Jose Mourinho can finally rest easy.

Man United take on Everton this weekend in the Premier League and speaking before the clash, Toffees manager Marco Silva has assured everyone that Jose Mourinho will succeed at Manchester United.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Silva said: “They showed in both games how strong they can be. They didn’t start well against Newcastle but they reacted in the second half and they did the same against Chelsea.

“When they are in a good moment they are a really strong team. Of course, we want to block them, we want to challenge them as well. We respect them as a team. They will do the same with us and we want to compete with them.

“Jose did a fantastic job in Portugal and at Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid and everything he won. Mourinho has won in every country he has worked so far.”

The media and a number of the fans want Jose Mourinho to be sacked with immediate effect but the reality is that there are no top-level managers who are currently without a club.

And Marco Silva is not the only manager who has backed Jose Mourinho to succeed at Manchester United as Mourinho’s former player and current Derby manager Frank Lampard also made a similar statement a couple of weeks ago.
