Man United defender Marcos Rojo was tipped to move out of the club during the current summer transfer window but he has ended up staying at the club.

Rojo joined Man United in 2014 from Sporting but the Argentine has not been able to settle down at the club under any of the managers.

And with Everton seemingly interested in signing him for the current season it was more or less certain that Marcos Rojo would be sold off.

Another big reason why the defender wanted to move out was because right now United have a host of centre-backs at the club meaning he would not likely even start a game.

But now speaking about his collapsed move to Everton, the 29-year-old has revealed that the manager did not want to offload him during the summer but he will once again try his best to move out in January.

Speaking to Argentine publication Ole, Rojo said(as reported): “I had the possibility of going to Everton, but due to the decisions of the club or the manager it wasn’t possible.

“Now I have to fight until December and, if it doesn’t work out, I will try to leave. ‘The qualifiers and the Copa America are coming and I want to be part of that.

“I don’t want to be out again, I want to exhaust all the possibilities and compete to be here.”

MARCOS ROJO EXIT:

One possible reason why the manager refused to let Marcos Rojo leave was because of the injury suffered by Eric Bailly. Bailly would likely be out of action until the January transfer window meaning Marcos Rojo could get a game or two until that period.

Also, the loan move of Chris Smalling played a big part in the manager refusing to let Rojo leave.

But once Bailly comes back and the current defenders settle down with the first XI, Man United will surely look to offload the Argentine – possibly during the summer transfer window.

And if rumours are to be believed then Everton still hold an interest in him and will possibly make a transfer bid at the start of next year.
