Arsenal are looking to bring in a couple of new signings this summer and they have been keeping track of Mariano Diaz for some time now.

Mariano Diaz came up through the ranks at Real Madrid but in 2017 the club chose to sell him off to Lyon only to buy him back last summer for a transfer fee of €21.5 million.

But despite his return, the centre-forward has failed to make any sort of impact at the Bernabeu and last season he featured in only 13 La Liga games – scoring 3 goals.

And next campaign is also expected to lose the number 7 shirt as reports suggest that Zidane will hand the shirt to new arrival Eden Hazard.

A number of clubs have been linked with Mariano Diaz and at one point as many as 10 clubs had reportedly shown interest in signing the 25-year-old.

One of those clubs are Arsenal as Unai Emery wants to bring in the forward as a backup to the likes of Aubameyang and Lacazette.

Now though, reports are claiming that Mariano Diaz is not interested in joining Arsenal during the current transfer window.

Initially, it was thought that the player had specifically rejected a move to the Emirates as he had his heart set on another club.

Now though it looks like the player has no intentions of moving out of the Bernabeu this summer.

As per AS, Mariano Diaz wants to stay at the club for the 2019-20 season in order to convince Zinedine Zidane of his talent and value.

The report states: “Mariano Díaz (25 years old) has clear ideas about his future. The striker has had offers from half Europe (more than ten), but, as AS could know, his position remains the same: stay at Real Madrid, where he is very happy, and convince Zidane to have some prominence in the next season.”

Mariano Diaz is no doubt a fine talent but he will not be a really big miss for Unai Emery since he already has two of the best forwards in Lacazette and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.
