Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta might be planning to sell midfielder Matteo Guendouzi during the upcoming summer transfer window, as per the Daily Mail.

The Frenchman has been in the eye of the storm from right after Arsenal’s loss to Brighton during the weekend and it seems like the Gunners boss has seen enough to have pushed his patience to the edge.

The report claims: “Mikel Arteta is open to offloading Matteo Guendouzi with frustration mounting over the midfielder’s antics – including catching him on camera acting up during training.

“Arteta’s patience is being tested by Guendouzi who clashed with match-winner Neal Maupay following Arsenal’s defeat at Brighton on Saturday. Maupay accused his countryman of lacking humility for things he said during the game at The Amex.

“The incident is the latest that has led to questions about Guendouzi’s attitude, a situation that Arteta, who is demanding high behavioural standards as he bids to change the culture at Arsenal, has privately been left unimpressed by.

“Sportsmail understands Arteta had the Frenchman’s card marked from early in his reign when he learned Guendouzi had been acting up while re-watching training footage on one occasion during the early days of his reign.”

Can Matteo Guendouzi really be sold in the summer?

Matteo Guendouzi is not that fine a talent so it will not hurt Arsenal too much if the 21-year-old heads out in the summer.

But the big problem for Arteta is the fact that he will have to find a replacement for him which requires a fair bit of money – something that Arsenal have in very limited capacity right now.

So, in practicality, the fate of Matteo Guendouzi is not yet etched in stone and the midfielder still has the remainder of the season to get his act straight and win over the trust of his manager.

Mikel Arteta will not want to waste unnecessary money in bringing in a replacement this summer but if the Frenchman cannot mend his ways, the Spanish manager will be left with no other choice.
