Mauricio Pochettino has been sacked by Tottenham Hotspur and is now replaced by Jose Mourinho who has officially been unveiled as the new Spurs manager.

The sacking of the Argentine has truly come as a shock to many people since only a couple of months ago, Spurs were playing in the Champions League final.

But this season though has been really tough for Mauricio Pochettino as his team have managed to pick up just 14 points from their first 12 matches.

While everyone will be focusing on Jose Mourinho this weekend but there are now whispers around London that Arsenal could be looking to replace Unai Emery with Mauricio Pochettino.

A couple of months ago, Poch had claimed that he would never manage Arsenal even if Levy chose to sack him but then back in 2015 Jose Mourinho had also claimed to never manage Spurs because he loved the Chelsea fans too much.

While Unai Emery is not under pressure to be sacked right now but according to Harry Redknapp, the Gunners hierarchy should give this idea some real thought explaining why the Arsenal fans will welcome Mauricio Pochettino despite the Argentine being a fierce North London rival.

Speaking on Wednesday’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, he said: “With Pochettino going from Tottenham, there will be one or two Premier League managers waking up this morning thinking, ‘oh my god, this ain’t too clever’.

“And there will be one or two chairmen very excited this morning thinking if there’s any way they could get him in. What a signing he’d be.

“There are clubs in London who are having a terrible time. Why shouldn’t he go to Arsenal if he wants to? You think the Arsenal fans wouldn’t love him there?

“If you go in there and start winning football matches, they would have taken Saddam Hussein in there when he was about, the fans don’t give a monkeys! If you start winning every week, they’re singing ‘there’s only one Saddam’.

“It happens in football – Sol Campbell went from Tottenham to Arsenal, George Graham did it, Terry Neill did it, Pat Jennings, one of our greatest goalkeepers in history, even he made the change.

“It can happen, as long as you can do the job. I would have thought Arsenal will be looking at Pochettino now thinking, ‘could we? Can we?’”
