Manchester United and Manchester City are without a doubt two of the favourites to win the Premier League this season but as things stand both the clubs have had two very different summer transfer window.

On one hand, Pep Guardiola’s side have made only two signings this summer but the manager seems to be quite content with the side he has at his disposal.

On the other hand, there’s Man United manager Jose Mourinho who has received a number of new players but still lashed out at his management for the failure to bring any more signings.

But both the rivals seem to have one thing in common – atleast during this summer transfer window.

According to reports, both City and United were given the chance to sign Arturo Vidal who recently is on the verge of joining La Liga giants Barcelona from Bayern Munich.

Spanish journalist Jose Alvarez has revealed that both the clubs were offered the services of Vidal about a month ago but they immediately turned it doing citing the player’s age and fitness.

Arturo Vidal turned 31 years old a couple of months ago and he has had two knees surgeries in the past which as per Alvarez were the only points going against the midfielder.

Jose Alvarez wrote: “Arturo Vidal was offered one month ago to Manchester City and Manchester United by his agents but both clubs discard the signement. His age and his knee (two surgeries) were the reason of the refuse even the price was reasonable.”

Arturo Vidal joined Bayern Munich from Serie A giants Juventus in 2015 for a transfer fee of €40 million and during the three seasons he was with the club, the midfielder made 132 appearances – scoring 22 goals.
