Liverpool picked up their sixth straight win in the Premier League this season as they beat Chelsea 2-1 this past Sunday away from home.

The Reds scored both their goals in the first half courtesy of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Roberto Firmino but in the second half, they were pegged back by Chelsea and truth be told they were lucky that the Blues could only manage to score just one goal.

Hence speaking after the match, former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho had a thing or two to say regarding Mo Salah and his performance in the second half of the match.

According to Mourinho, Mo Salah did not do his part defensively which could have costed Liverpool all three points on Sunday.

“The three attacking players play a lot centralized, and then they don’t defend too much,” Mourinho said on Sky Sports(as quoted by The Metro).

“I think in the last 10 to 15 minutes of this game, Salah has to make a bigger effort and has to help a little bit more.”

“So when arrives the moment where they need to win ugly, and in this moment they don’t have the potential or the freshness to score a third goal, they have to defend really better.”

Verdict:

Mo Salah did get an assist during the match but there’s no denying that the player had a bad day at the office on Sunday.

The Egyptian managed a passing success rate of 70 per cent during the whole match and surprisingly he was dispossessed a total of five times.

Emerson had to be taken off due to an injury so it was up to Marcos Alonso and Fikayo Tomori to keep Mo Salah at bay.

And the Chelsea pair did a fine job in controlling the Egyptian and his forward runs which was a big reason why Liverpool went on the back foot during the second half of the match.
