Man United suffered their second defeat of the 2019-20 Premier League season as they went down 2-0 at the hands of West Ham United away from home.

The away side looked lacklustre and it seemed as if they were just going through the motions instead of frocing the issue.

Man United went down 1-0 in the 44th minute and as they were trying to find that equaliser Cresswell scored a second for the Hammers through a wonderful free-kick.

And speaking after the match, Gray Neville surprisingly chose to recall Alan Hansen’s infamous phrase: “You can’t win anything with kids.”

Yes, the former Man United manager chose to back this very same statement in order to say that Man United do not have leaders on the pitch who could force the issue on the pitch.

“I pointed out on Sunday [during a 2-0 defeat at West Ham] at the £900m that has been spent in the last seven or eight years, and there’s nothing left of it really,” Neville told Sky Sports.

“There are the bones of a squad, some young players from the academy that haven’t cost that money. Potentially David de Gea, who is struggling. There’s Harry Maguire but there’s a lot more rebuilding to do.

“I’ve said many times that Alan Hansen was right, you don’t win anything with kids.

“The Class of ’92 didn’t win that Premier League title. We had Steve Bruce, Gary Pallister, Roy Keane, Eric Cantona, Brian McClair and Peter Schmeichel.

“We had world-class performers and two of the best centre-backs ever.

“Keane was the most inspirational captain and leader, Cantona was world-class, Schmeichel was the best in the world and Denis Irwin was brilliant.

“They pulled us through it. If the Class of ’92 had gone into this team, we would have had no chance.”

Hansen is mocked till date because of that one prediction he made decades ago and this statement from Gary Neville will obviously not go down too well with the Man United fans.

But in reality, there’s no hiding that Man United are playing some of their worst football in recent memory.

Solskjaer has chosen to put his faith on youngsters which on paper might be a good move but on the pitch, he desperately needs to someone who could force the issue when things aren’t going their way.
