Liverpool were beaten 3-0 in the Champions League semi-final first leg by Barcelona at Camp Nou earlier this week.

And while Jurgen Klopp’s men put up a strong fight against the home team but it was Lionel Messi who proved to be the difference between both the sides.

Now though, it looks like that the bad luck from the European tie might just trickle into Liverpool’s Premier League game vs Newcastle United this weekend.

The Reds travel to St James’ Park to take on Rafa Benitez’s side and reports claim that Naby Keita might be missing from the matchday squad.

Naby Keita really struggled to find game time during the first half of the season but in the past couple of months, the midfielder has been a regular feature in central midfield alongside Fabinho.

Naby Keita also started the Barcelona game but had to be forced off in the first half with an injury.

And now the Anfield outfit have confirmed that the midfielder has picked up a serious abductor issue and is likely to be out for the next two months.

This means that Naby Keita is not only going to miss the remainder of the season but he will also be an absentee for Guinea’s Africa Cup of Nations which starts in June.

The manager said: “It was really unlucky. Bad news, he has a high-grade adductor injury; the tendon is ruptured, which keeps him out for at least two months.

“Bad news for us obviously, but bad news for Guinea as well because the Africa Cup of Nations is coming up.

“He was in a really good moment – a really, really good moment – but it happened, that’s how football and life sometimes are. It’s not too nice, but it’s very serious.”

Roberto Firmino came off the bench to replace Wijnaldum during the Barcelona game but the Brazilian remains a doubt for the Newcastle encounter and reports claim that the forward will go through a late fitness test in order to determine his availability.
