Nacho Monreal has been tipped to move out of Arsenal this summer but the left-back clearly has other plans.

The 33-year-old has one year left on his current deal at the club and during the 2018-19 season, he managed to feature in only 22 Premier League games under Unai Emery.

And now that Unai Emery is trying desperately to bring in Kieran Tierney from Celtic, it is evident that Nacho Monreal will have no place in the first XI next campaign if the Scottish youngster arrives.

But despite facing such a still challenge, Nacho Monreal has made it clear that he has no intentions of leaving the Emirates this summer and does not expect Arsenal to offload him.

“That’s all rumours,” he is quoted as saying by Football.London.

“I belong at Arsenal. I still have a contract. My idea is to stay here.

“It’s a great club and I feel really comfortable playing for Arsenal. My idea is to continue playing here.

“My position has always been left-back, this is the position I enjoy most,

“Football is changing, obviously sometimes our centre-backs have got injured in the last few years and the manager has decided I have to play in that position.

“That’s what I did but my position, and where I enjoy playing, is left-back.”

A couple of days ago, the dumping of Nacho Monreal looked a sensible option since Arsenal had made a second bid for Tierney which reportedly met Celtic’s demands. So with the youngster arriving at the club, Emery could free up some wages by offloading the 33-year-old.

Now though the Scottish Herald are reporting that the Gunners’ new bid for Keiran Tierney is not close to the £25 million price tag which means the transfer is still in limbo.

“It is understood that the London club returned to Celtic this weekend with an improved offer for the 22-year-old but reports that they had tabled a deal in line with the Parkhead side’s £25m price tag on Tierney are believed to be wide of the mark.”

It is clear that the Bhoys will not cave into the pressure so it might just be sensible for Arsenal to hold onto Nacho Monreal for the time being.
