Liverpool take on Napoli in the Champions League this midweek and by the time the match ends, the fortunes for Jurgen Klopp could take a massive swing.

Liverpool need to win this game in order to qualify for the knockout stages and if they fail to do so then all this superb form this season will be absolutely worthless – more so that they were the finalist in the Champions League last campaign.

The Reds remain the only unbeaten team in the Premier League this season but with Napoli, they face a totally different side.

The Serie A outfit won the reverse fixture back in October courtesy of a 90th-minute winner from Lorenzo Insigne and Carlo Ancelotti will be hoping for that same kind of commitment from his players on Tuesday.

Anfield any day can be a daunting place to visit but before the match, Carlo Ancelotti has made is strategy crystal clear.

“We don’t know how to play a defensive match and we won’t do it at Liverpool,” Ancelotti said.

“We want to control the game. We are not used to playing defensively, we are not capable of doing it. We will not park the bus in front of our goal.

“We believe we will get through: so far we have prepared a beautiful cake, now we must add the icing.

“When I think of previous matches with Liverpool, I like the one from 2007 in Athens.

“I have fond memories of Anfield, I effectively won the Premier League title there with Chelsea.”

The onus will certainly be on Liverpool to win the match because a point would mean absolutely nothing for Jurgen Klopp and his side.

Many believed, the former Chelsea manager will be setting up a defensive minded side – one which would rely only on precision counter attacks.

But Carlo Ancelotti certainly believes that attack is the best form of defence.
