Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk is without a doubt the best defender in Europe right now but to be honest, he still needs a world-class partner in defence.

During the 2018-19 season, Van Dijk and Joe Gomez started as the first choice pair in central defence but then the youngster got injured and Klopp has to alter between Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren.

Yes, Joel Matip put in some fine performances during the second half of the season but the reality is that the 27-year-old is not someone who can be relied for a really long time.

As a result of this, Klopp is planning to bring in a new central defender during the summer and reports suggest the manager is eyeing a move for Nathan Ake.

Nathan Ake joined Bournemouth from Chelsea in the summer of 2017 and the 24-year-old could very well move out after just two years with the Cherries.

This past season, Ake played in every Premier League game and Klopp reportedly wants to bring in the former Chelsea lad with the hope that he can be the long-term partner to Van Dijk.

But signing Nathan Ake will definitely not be a cakewalk since reports also claim that Spurs are also eyeing a move for the defender.

Pochettino did not sign a single player last summer and he will be itching to add depth to his squad this time around.

Spurs are reportedly the favourites to sign the Bournemouth man up until now but it is being believed that Liverpool can easily outbid the North London club if Klopp is at all serious about signing Nathan Ake.

The Cherries are demanding somewhere in the region of £40 million which Spurs are right now ready to pay but Liverpool can easily splash more cash and bring the defender on board.

But some experts have warned the Anfield outfit to try and avoid a bidding war with Spurs and it turn end up buying Nathan Ake for an inflated price.
