Manchester United take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this weekend and Nemanja Matic’s injury is turning out to be a big headache for Jose Mourinho.

Nemanja Matic withdrew from Serbia national squad during the international break due to an ankle injury and his return to Stamford Bridge is under serious doubt.

Matic did not play any part for his national team during the break as he swiftly returned back to Manchester in order to continue his rehabilitation at Carrington.

At first, it was being believed Nemanja Matic’s injury is not too serious and the midfielder would make himself fit for the Chelsea game.

But now reports from England claim that Matic might not make the trip to London on Saturday.

Nemanja Matic’s injury will surely be a huge blow for Jose Mourinho given the Serbian is one of the best holding midfielders in the Premier League.

Mourinho does have the option of playing Marouane Fellaini in the same role but the way Chelsea play under Maurizio Sarri, this idea will surely be a disaster.

Another option is to play Paul Pogba in that role but that too would be a dent in Mourinho’s plans who is now desperately trying to make United play attacking football.

Luke Shaw is another player who did not play during the international break.

Shaw’s injury is very similar to that of Nemanja Matic’s injury but the English international is expected to make himself fit for Saturday’s game.

Nemanja Matic’s injury could not have come at a worse time for Jose Mourinho and with the form Chelsea are currently in, the Red Devils will feel that walking out of Stamford Bridge with a point is a job well done.
