Arsenal were beaten by Manchester City 3-1 in the Premier League this weekend. And the gloom is once again back at the London club.

After getting knocked out of the FA Cup by Man United, the Gunners got things back on track with a win over Cardiff City but all that good work was undone by City on Sunday.

Sergio Aguero scored a hattrick on the night with the first goal coming in the first minute of the match.

Unai Emery’s men fought back and levelled the match through a Laurent Koscielny goal just 10 minutes later and everyone thought that we might have a proper game on our hands.

But slowly, City took hold of the match and it was one-way traffic from then onwards.

Unai Emery was helplessly watching from the dugout as his defence was being dismantled piece by piece.

And after the game, a few radical Gunners fans have come to say that the club should get rid of Unai Emery since he is not the right man for the job.

But football pundit Garry Neville feels that Unai Emery has done wonderfully well up until now and the Spaniard should be given more time.

“Unai Emery is doing the best job that he possibly could do,” Neville said on Sky Sports.

“It’s a squad that needs additions and it needs change. He needs to sail that ship into shore, some need to disembark and the ones that he wants to get back on need to sail back out to sea with him.

“This first season for him is all about working out which players are going to be on the ship next season and testing out different things.

“He’s finding out a lot about his players all the time. For instance, Matteo Guendouzi was fantastic against Manchester City. He’s 19-years-old and that was a really good performance. Emery can build around things like that.

“Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is always a threat but with the rest of the team, there’s a lot to work on.

“I watched Manchester United at Leicester and they look stronger now. When you look at Manchester United’s forward line with Marcus Rashford, Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial, Arsenal haven’t got that.

“Even in midfield United have got Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera and they are now looking stronger at the back.

“Arsenal will end up sixth and it’s between Manchester United and Chelsea for fourth and fifth.”

Unai Emery has himself revealed that he wanted to sign three players during the January transfer window but in the end the club could only manage to bring in Denis Suarez that too on a loan deal.

If the fans want to the best of Unai Emery then the management needs to open up their arms and spend heavily during the summer.
