Arsenal have signed 24-year-old winger Nicolas Pepe from Lille – the Premier League club have confirmed.

Yesterday Lille president Gerard Lopez had claimed the transfer should be wrapped up within 24 hours as all the parties have agreed to the terms of the deal.

“He is the one who made the decision, I think it should be (made official) in the next 24 hours,” he told RMC.

“Through discussions with Nico and his agents, things focused on the certain clubs that we wanted to focus on, the two projects that interested the player.”

And this is exactly what has happened as Arsenal released a statement after the signing writing:

“Winger Nicolas Pepe has become our record signing after joining us from Ligue 1 club Lille.

“The 24 year-old Ivory Coast international completed the paperwork on his move on Thursday. He will wear the No.19 shirt.”

After the signing, head coach Unai Emery said: “Nicolas is a highly-rated and talented winger who was wanted by many of the top teams in Europe.

“Signing a top-class winger has been one of our key objectives in this transfer window and I’m delighted he’s joining.

“He will add pace, power and creativity, with the aim of bringing more goals to our team.”

Nicolas Pepe joined Lille from Angers in 2017 and last season, the winger managed to score 22 goals and make 11 assists in the Ligue 1, a combined total which was only bettered by Kylian Mbappe for PSG.
