Manchester United are planning to bring in a couple of new players during the summer and one of the biggest priorities for Solskjaer will be to sign new defenders.

While Victor Lindelof has found his footing in the first XI but his partner keeps on changing and it is high time that the club look to bring in a new world-class centre-back at the end of the season.

Eric Bailly suffered an injury during Man United’s 1-1 draw vs Chelsea last week and he has been ruled out of action for a couple of months.

This means that Chris Smalling and Phil Jones remain the other two options who can partner Lindelof at the back and to be honest, the club have been dragging them along for a number of seasons now.

Many pundits have urged United to sell them off and it looks like Solskjaer is finally going to walk on that path.

Rumours have it that the manager will be looking to offload atleast one of these two centre-backs during the summer which means that a new arrival will be imminent.

Or maybe not.

Some reports have claimed that Man United might not look to bring in a new defender during the transfer window as Solskjaer is planning to give Axel Tuanzebe a chance in the first team squad next season.

Axel Tuanzebe is currently out on loan to Aston Villa and the defender has performed exceptionally well this season for the Championship side.

So far Axel Tuanzebe has played in 26 games for Villa which is quite an impressive number given that he had picked up an injury last December.

It looks like the youngster’s performances have caught the attention of his parent club and Solskjaer is reportedly thinking of using Axel Tuanzebe heavily next season.

If the club do decide to give the 21-year-old a chance of playing in the first XI then surely Solskjaer would not risk losing both Smalling as well as Phil Jones during the summer transfer window.
