Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea have all been linked with Villareal defender Pau Torres and all these clubs are expected to make a move sometime next year.

Pau Torres has come up through the ranks at Villareal and last season he was sent out on loan to fellow Spanish side Malaga but this time around the 22-year-old has managed to break into the Villareal senior side.

So far the defender has featured in 8 league games for the Spanish side during the 2019-20 season and if reports are to be believed then he could be playing in the English Premier League next season.

The likes of Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal are all keeping tabs on Pau Torres and it seems like they could all launch bids for the centre-back next summer.

Pep Guardiola would be looking to strengthen his defence for the next season while Chelsea would be looking to bring in some new players next summer once their transfer ban is lifted.

But if rumours are to be believed then it is Arsenal who are in pole position to sign the defender thanks to their former player Santi Cazorla.

Cazorla is still an endearing figure at Arsenal and as per the report, the Spaniard has told the Gunners to make a move for Pau Torres next summer.

If this report holds true then surely Cazorla will play a huge role in helping Torres choose his next club and we all know which English club the Spaniard would suggest his teammate.

But having said that though, it would be very tough for Arsenal to match the financial firepower of both Man City and Chelsea and the only thing that the Gunners can offer Pau Torres is regular game time.

The defender signed a new contract with Villareal earlier this month and this new deal will keep him at the club until 2024. So naturally, the La Liga side are in no hurry to offload him.

As per the terms of the new deal, Pau Torres has a release clause between €50m and €75m which is something of a stretch for Unai Emery’s side.

While Arsenal could try and sign the defender force a lesser amount but we don’t think the likes of Chelsea and Man City would let him join Arsenal so easily.

Both City and Chelsea and money to spare and if Pau Torress can keep up his fine performances during the whole of the 2019-20 season then surely both these sides would not shy away from a transfer battle.

And this will be the last thing that Arsenal would want since they will have to ensure that they get back into the Champions League if they wish to lure in the defender.
