With the Premier League season set to begin this weekend, every major pundit is busy giving his predictions for the new campaign.

And most of these pundits have placed their bets on Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City to defend their title during the 2018-19 season.

Another thing that these pundits have also predicted is Liverpool’s serious challenge to Man City in the race of the title.

Former English footballer and current pundit Paul Merson has gone on to predict that even though Jurgen Klopp’s side will give a firm challenge to Manchester City all they will manage to do at the end is cut the points gap.

Merson has also predicted that the reigning champions will defend their title by winning the league with a double digits points gap.

Merson said: “Man City will win it by double digits.

“They looked ready to go in the Charity Shield, they’ve got very good players and a very big squad.

“They’ve got to start well – all their players were away at the World Cup but they’ve all come back and want to play, look at Kyle Walker.

“I think Liverpool will give it a go, they’ve bought very well but watching Man City I couldn’t believe how good they were,”

Liverpool kick off their Premier League campaign this Sunday when they welcome Manuel Pellegrini’s West Ham United at Anfield while Man City are also in action on Sunday but they face a much tougher challenge as they visit London to take on Arsenal.
