Manchester United are preparing for a major overhaul during the summer transfer window and one of the players they are targetting is Philippe Coutinho.

Philippe Coutinho left Liverpool last year in January for a transfer fee of €145 million and went on to join his dream club – Barcelona.

But the Brazilian has been enduring a tough time ever since he moved to the Camp Nou.

During the 2018-19 season, the winger has played in 34 La Liga fixtures scoring just 5 goals and making two assists.

While 34 games might seem a lot but most of these performances had come off the bench which is a clear indication that Ernesto Valverde does not fully trust the 26-year-old.

Now with the season coming to an end, there have been reports that Philippe Coutinho wants to move out of Barcelona during the summer and return back to the Premier League.

And now it is being suggested that Philippe Coutinho has handed in a transfer request after having failed to settle down at Barcelona.

The Brazilian handed in a transfer request almost three months ago which means that he is more or less ready to move out of Camp Nou.

This will certainly be great news for Manchester United since the winger has been heavily linked with the Old Trafford outfit for a couple of months now.

Alexis Sanchez has turned out to be a flop at United and the Chilean is expected to leave the club this summer. And Philippe Coutinho is expected to be the long-term replacement for Sanchez.

But Man United though aren’t the only club interested in signing Philippe Coutinho as Chelsea are also keeping tabs on him.

The Blues are expected to lose Eden Hazard to Real Madrid very soon and Sarri wants to bring in the former Liverpool player to fill in that void.

It doesn’t matter if Philippe Coutinho ends up joining Chelsea or Man United but one thing is certain that the Brazilian will be returning back to the Premier League.

And this is something that will not go down too well with the Liverpool fans as one of their former superstars might be playing for their arch-rivals.
